Vision for Kids

Eyes of San Antonio loves children!
Some sources have claimed that up to 75% of everything we learn comes from our vision. That's why we are dedicated to insuring that your child gets a good start on his/her education. Our goal is to give every child the best possible vision to maximize their educational potential.

As a parent, you may wonder whether your preschooler has a vision problem or when you should schedule your child's first eye exam.
If you suspect that your child may have a vision problem it is always good to schedule an appointment with an eye care professional. The first eye exam should take place around the age of 3 depending on the child's letter development. If you are unsure if your child is ready, feel free to call our office and we will be happy to help you.

Eye exams for children are extremely important, because 5 to 10 percent of preschoolers and 25 percent of school-aged children have vision problems*. Early identification of vision problem can be crucial because children are often more responsive to treatment when problems are diagnosed early.
*Vision impairment occurs in 5 to 10 percent of all pre-school age children, according to the May 2004 issue of Annals of Family Medicine; The American Optometric Association (AOA) says 25 percent of all school-age children have vision problems.
